About Ms. Orem:
Katie Orem is the eMOLST (Electronic Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment) administrator for New York State and the geriatrics and palliative care program manager at Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. She has been working on the New York MOLST program, palliative, and end-of-life care and advance care planning for over ten years. She’s involved with the planning, execution, and presentation of numerous training sessions focused on MOLST, eMOLST and advance care planning for professionals, as well as patients & families. She assisted many facilities across New York State in improving their MOLST processes, complying with New York State Public Health Law, and implementing eMOLST. She majored in Biology & Society at Cornell University and received her Masters in Public Health from Yale University. She currently serves on the New York State MOLST Implementation Team Executive Committee, the POLST Technology Committee, and New York’s National Healthcare Decisions Day
